Another song that was just released yesterday! It’s actually a part of a full album, which has been getting pretty rare in the Korean Indie scene with all the artists releasing quick and dirty “single” albums. The first time I heard one of OOHYO’s songs was actually from my Facebook news feed. One of my, you know, friends-on-Facebook-but-not-really friends made a cover of Teddy bear Rises, and I really liked it (As in emotionally, not that button on Facebook).
OOHYO is still relatively unknown even in Korea, and she chooses not to show herself on the internet. She’s known to be a year younger than I am (I’m 23), currently attending a school in London (defs did not Facebook stalk). What really amazed me was that most of her songs from the EP album released last May were said to be songs she wrote in high school. I wouldn’t even be able to write them now, let alone 5 years ago. Also, the fact that there aren’t any recent photos of her online really adds to the beauty and relatability of her lyrics. Her words truly defy space and time (although the two are essentially the same thing. I can go on and on about this, but for your good, I’ll stop); they engulf me in her warmth and presence, whether that was 5 years ago or all the way over in London. She sings life as it is, without an inch of exaggeration, and that’s not something you come across every day.
The title of the song is a plus too .

I see you walking down the street
I see you coming back inside
I know you’re wondering what all this means to you
I know you’re breaking down tonight
but do you know how much it hurts
to see you closing back that door
I love you love you love you
just the way you are
Love you love you love you
the way you are
There’s nothing in this world that I would ever want
than to have you back in my arms.
I want to see you really smile
Do you know it’s been a while
Have you noticed that you’re far away from home
Do you like it where you are
Do they treat you like a star
Do they sing for you the songs you always liked
You’re scared of all the lies
All you want is a sign
Telling you where to go
There’s no other way to turn
The only lesson you learned
is to never forget your way back home
Waiting for you
deep in the night
to tuck you into bed
I’m waiting for you
arms open wide
I want to see you smile tonight
Love you love you love you
just the way you are
Love you love you love you
the way you are
There’s nothing in this world that I would ever want
than to have you back in my arms.
