I guess what I was planning to write in my previous post was how I started to feel like I’m stuck in a cycle, a cycle that’ll take me nowhere. Even though that post was cut short by my drunken-self, I felt a bit relieved just by writing about it (in my head for most of the part). Then I came across this new song by Standing Egg which pretty much sums up all I wanted to say. The song talks about looking into one’s inner self and trying to see the beauty of it (this is also where the title of the album comes from). I often find myself comparing myself to others, seeing all that they have and all that I lack. I get jealous and frustrated, beating myself down on how I’m not the best at anything, a jack of no trades. I think this is a thought shared by many around my age who are unsatisfied in their current positions; it feels like we had to climb a higher wall to get to an even lower place. It feels like shit. This is certainly something I need to change about myself, learning how to look at things from a better light, and no one can help me with it. As the Eggs sing it, I wanna love me now and have some faith in myself.
I’m fine
Take me higher
Take me higher
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
I wanna love me now
I’m fine
Take me higher
Take me higher
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
I wanna love me now
Take me higher
Take me higher
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
I wanna love me now
Another day, just like any other, passes by
Scared I might be going nowhere
I keep getting anxious but
I’m fine, take a moment to look in the mirror
And call your name again
Take me higher so what if they laugh at you
Take me higher I have faith in you
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
Look into the mirror and see
Who’s smiling, who’s flying
I wanna love me now
Another day, just like any other, passes by
Scared I might be falling behind
I keep getting anxious but
I’m fine, take a moment to look in the mirror
And call your name again
Take me higher so what if they laugh at you
Take me higher I have faith in you
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
Look into the mirror and see
Who’s smiling, who’s flying
I wanna love me now
Take me higher so what if they laugh at you
Take me higher I have faith in you
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
Look into the mirror and see
Who’s smiling, who’s flying
I wanna love me now
Thank you so much! I always appreciate your translations!
[…] I personally feel like reading the lyrics while listening to this song makes the experience of listening to it even more powerful, so here’s a link to the Korean lyrics and English translation: http://www.tartfroyo.com/standing-egg-yell/ […]
this was posted 3 years ago, but i’m still thankful for your review. it reflects exactly where i’m at now, i get worried about where i am and what I think I should be doing, going higher and reaching for more – but it only makes me more anxious than ever. I question everything I choose to do, wondering where it will get me. it’s a simple song, but i think it’s what i needed to hear. maybe take a step back and just breathe, and trust in yourself.
