I’m back! I promise I’ll post more frequently .
Today I bring you a song by Zitten. I’ve only recently heard of this group, and I’m pretty mad at myself for not finding out about them earlier. There are couple of other songs that I would love to post, but I’ll have to save them for another month (hint hint?).
The title for this song, 백야, makes me once again appreciate the use of Chinese characters in the Korean language. The Chinese word “白夜”, which literally translates to “White Night” (and no Grace, not this White Night), contains with it a delicacy you just can’t translate into English. But I digress.
When I first listened to the song, it really reminded me of How to Save a Life by The Fray, probably because the “I won’t cry” part has the same melody as “Where did I go wrong?”. The song itself definitely sounds more depressing and desperate, but the lyrics tell a different story. I was told the lyrics would be happy. While I could see why one might think that, all I get from the lyrics is earnestness. I guess that could be interpreted in many different ways, including happiness. For me, the song helps me feel a bit more relieved. At times, it feels as though I have so much pent up feelings that I simply can’t let go. And it’s songs like these that allow me to let some of my emotions loose.

This journey you and I undertook,
I fell asleep while gazing at you.
You brought me to this dreamy place,
Where the night falls but not the light.
The shining sky, my trembling hands,
Your deep smile gazing back at me.
I won’t cry, I won’t run,
As you’ll stay as my shining light in the dark.
Flocking birds, lost people,
Everything is yet to fall asleep.
The light of the land buried in the darkness
Breaks loose to illuminate our magical world.
The shining sky, my trembling hands,
Your deep smile gazing back at me.
I won’t cry, I won’t run,
As you’ll stay as my shining light in the dark.
O- You will come.
O- We will meet.
O- We will last.
O-
Flocking birds, lost people,
Everything is yet to fall asleep.
The light of the land buried in the darkness
Breaks loose to illuminate our magical world.
The shining sky, my trembling hands,
Your deep smile gazing back at me.
I won’t cry, I won’t run,
As you’ll stay as my shining light in the dark.
